OUR OTHER INVESTMENTS
As part of our growth and development strategy, Scanpower has sought to identify new investment opportunities that both generate commercially appropriate returns whilst adding value to the economy of our local community. Some examples of recent projects are described below.
Oringi Business Park
In 2008 following the closure of the Oringi freezing works, Scanpower purchased the facility. Subsequent to this the company has developed the site into a business park and established a new operating division, Oringi Cold Stores, using the temperature controlled buildings located therein. Oringi Business Park now has numerous tenants including a major carpet manufacturer and an agricultural fertiliser production facility. Scanpower is in the process of establishing new office facilities at Oringi and will relocate from Dannevirke in July 2010. Details of the site can be viewed at: www.oringipark.co.nz.
Kiwi Sock Company Limited
In 2007 Scanpower entered into a three way joint venture initiative to purchase and takeover the Norsewood based manufacturing facility previously operated by Norsewear. This business now trades as the Kiwi Sock Company, supplying high quality socks, gloves and hats to customers in New Zealand, Australia and North America.
Ruahine Club Renovation / MCI Premises
In 2006 Scanpower purchased the historic Ruahine Club building in Dannevirke. We then undertook a significant programme of renovations and remodelling to convert the premises into modern office facilities. In 2007, regional accountancy firm MCI & Associates took up a lease on the premises and have operated successfully from there since.
Research into Microgeneration and Energy Related Products
In recent years Scanpower has invested time and funds in researching emerging energy products, including micro-wind turbines and solar related technologies.
